The Classical Armenian verb ծնանել (‘to be born’) corresponds to the modern Armenian ծնել. However, the participial form ծնեալ was used almost exclusively in the passive voice—a subtlety often overlooked.
Hence, Matthew 1:20 reads:
Քանզի որ ի նմայն ծնեալ է՝ ի Հոգւոյն Սրբոյ է։
For what has been begotten within her is from the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 26:24 & Mark 14:21:
Լաւ էր նմա թէ չէր ծնեալ մարդն այն։
It would have been good for him had that man not been born.
John 8:41:
Մեք ի պոռնկութենէ չեմք ծնեալ.
We of whoredom have not been born.
John 9:34:
Ի մեղս իսկ ծնեալ ես ամենեւին։
You were born utterly in sin.
John 18:37
Բայց ես յայդ իսկ ծնեալ եմ, եւ ի դոյն իսկ եկեալ եմ յաշխարհ, զի վկայեցից ճշմարտութեանն.»
I was born for that, and for that have I come into the world: that I should testify to the truth.
Acts 2:8:
Եւ զիա՞րդ լսեմք մեք յիւրաքանչիւր բարբառս մեր յորում ծնեալ եմք:
And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
Acts 22:3:
Ես եմ Հրեայ ծնեալ ի Տարսոն Կիլիկեցւոց.
I am a Judean having been born in Tarsus of Cilicia.

Ես ծնեալ իսկ ի դմին եմ։

1 John 2:29:

Everyone who loves has been born out of God and knows God.
1 John 5:1
Ամենայն որ հաւատայ եթէ Յիսուս է Քրիստոսն՝ յԱստուծոյ ծնեալ է…
Everyone who has faith that Jesus is the Anointed has been born out of God…
1 John 5:4:
Զի ամենայն որ յԱստուծոյ ծնեալ է՝ յաղթէ աշխարհի…
For everyone that is born out of God conquers the cosmos…
1 John 5:18:
Գիտեմք եթէ ամենայն որ յԱստուծոյ է ծնեալ ոչ մեղանչէ. այլ որ յԱստուծոյն է ծնեալ պահէ զանձն, եւ չարն առ նա ոչ մերձենայ:
We know that everyone who is born out of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps watch over himself and the evil one does not touch him.
And finally, we have this example from 1 Peter 2:2:
իբրեւ զարդի ծնեալ մանկունս
like newborn babies
Where զարդի ծնեալ is used as a calque of ἀρτιγέννητα (նորածին). Note: իբրեւ (’like’ or ‘as’) is used analogically with accusative nouns (here, մանկունս); when used with verbs, it functions temporally, indicating ‘when’ (e.g., իբրեւ լուաւ, իբրեւ ետես, իբրեւ եղեւ, ևն.).
